SUMMARY:Open Mic Featuring Andrew Lewis
DESCRIPTION:Andrew Lewis \nThis month\, we’re excited to present Andrew Lewis as our feature performer. \nNew England has long been a popular center of folk music in America and Andrew Lewis exemplifies in this tradition. With thousands of miles of road under his feet\, his music is fully rooted while remaining remarkably fresh. Andrew’s songs are drawn from common experience and are expressed with a freshness and an originality that defies Cliché’. \nEither at a house concert\, on stage\, or before a vast festival crowd\, his music resonates in the hearts of his audience. Andrew performs solo as well as having shared the stage with seasoned musicians such as Albert Lee\, and performed “Hey Joe” with Ziggy Marley at the Levitate festival. He has opened for several folk Icons such as Tom Rush\, Eric Anderson\, and Tom Paxton\, and was at one time port of the Boston Acoustic duo Lewis and Garrels. He displays his passion by performing from the heart. \n“When Andrew takes the stage he takes his audience on a ride to familiar places. Give Andrew a listen\, watch a few videos\, but by all means catch one of his shows\, his star is rising.” \nMusic at the Museum is a three-season open mic that occurs at 1:00 pm on the last Saturday of each month\, typically from March through October of each year. Weather permitting\, the open mic is held outdoors at the Museum from May through September\, and unless otherwise indicated\, at the Rindge Meeting House in March\, April\, and October. In the case of rain (or worse)\, we move indoors to the Rindge Meeting House. \nSlots are two songs or ten minutes\, whichever comes first\, and can be reserved by emailing Ray Siekierski at nooniekirk52@gmail.com. \nFor additional information\, visit the Music at the Museum page! \n

SUMMARY:Open Mic Featuring Rik Ekström
DESCRIPTION:Rik Ekström \nThis month\, we’re excited to present Rik Ekström as our feature performer. \nRik Ekström is a singer-songwriter and band leader from Fitzwilliam\, NH\, by way of New York City. Rik’s music draws on American and European folk traditions heavily seasoned with rock and roll chugga-chugga. As a lyricist\, Rik Ekström builds stories around loving-yet-strained relationships\, happy misunderstandings\, and absurd propositions. Songs like A Dog With A Problem\, Pleasure Pleasing Pleasant Please\, and Noah’s Dart\, depict\nfamily adventures and the end of times with equal parts whimsy and heartbreak. \nThroughout the 1990s\, Rik was a busy member of New York City’s music scene\, first as a member of the roots boogie band\, Venus for Breakfast\, and then as the leader of his own band\, Boneshaker. Both VfB and Boneshaker performed regularly throughout the 90’s and early 00’s\, including innumerable club dates\, festivals\, Folk Alliance showcases\, live radio\, and small theaters. On Rik’s 1999 album\, The Philosophy of Brown\, he is backed by a group of seasoned players\, including Paul Warren Jacobs\, Marz Marlow\, and Jeff “Mugs” Ross – all alumni of Colorado’s blues club and festival scene. \nRik’s current band\, FairOak\, has been entertaining Monadnock region audiences since 2023. The band will be releasing an EP in the late spring of 2025 called\, The House of What’s Happening. Rik’s record with the band Boneshaker\, The Philosophy of Brown\, is currently available on Spotify and Apple Music. \nMusic at the Museum is a three-season open mic that occurs at 1:00 pm on the last Saturday of each month\, typically from March through October of each year. Weather permitting\, the open mic is held outdoors at the Museum from May through September\, and unless otherwise indicated\, at the Rindge Meeting House in March\, April\, and October. SUMMARY:Open Mic Featuring Glenn & Polly
DESCRIPTION:Glenn & Polly \nThis month\, we’re excited to present Glenn & Polly as our feature performers. \nThough for most of their lives they have been worlds apart and unknown to each other\, playing music has been part of their mental health. They were both oddballs in their youth and still are. our youth\, and we still are. Thing is\, they’re the perfect oddballs for each other. \nWhen they met\, their quirky personalities seemed to mesh seamlessly. When playing music together they were pleasantly surprised to find that their finger-picking guitar styles\, voices\, and song preferences quickly found common ground. Glenn & Polly aspire to a “less is more” approach in most things\, and they especially try to express that in their music. In their 70’s they trusted their instincts and decided to join their lives together\, selling their separate housess and buying and buying a home\, with a perfect room for music\, to share with their cats. \nThe many communities of New Hampshire that work so hard to host local musicians\, story-tellers\, and poets\, and the performers who love to wander this coffee house trail\, have become an important part of their lives. They cherish the growing friendships\, support\, and inspiration of their local musical community\, and they consider it a gift to be able to come together and share the soothing vibrations of locally-made\, hand-crafted music in these unsettled times. SUMMARY:Open Mic Featuring Walter Crockett
DESCRIPTION:Walter Crockett \nThis month\, we’re excited to present Walter Crockett as our feature performer. \nA brilliant\, eclectic songwriter with an instinct for hooks\, Walter Crockett hails from Worcester\, Mass\, where he recorded four albums with his late wife\, Valerie\, with whom he performed throughout New England. Whether performing solo or as a member of the many bands he’s been a member of over the years\, Walter is the real deal\, equally at home with folk\, Americana\, country\, blues\, and rock’n’roll.  \n  \nWalter Crockett is not your everyday singer-songwriter. He has a unique voice and delivery\, but you won’t forget him once you listen to this rather extraordinary new album. He sings about dreams both simple and profound\, crafted from experience and told from the heart.  \n–Steve Morse\, The Boston Globe \nWalter combines an intimate sharing of lyrical sentiment\, refreshingly off-kilter perspective\, and spot-on musical phrasing. \n–David Wilson \n  \nMusic at the Museum is a three-season open mic that occurs at 1:00 pm on the last Saturday of each month\, typically from March through October of each year.
